Deep Tissue Massage

INCLUDED UPGRADE: Aromatherapy is included at no additional charge. Let the Therapist know if you do not want any scents or if you are allergic.

Deep tissue massage is well-suited for people who engage in physical activities and those who have an injury or chronic pain.  It’s a good option if you have chronic muscle problems, such as soreness, injury, or imbalance. It can help relieve tight muscles, chronic muscle pain, and anxiety.

During a deep tissue massage, your massage therapist will use slow strokes and deep finger pressure to relieve tension from the deepest layers of your muscles and connective tissues. It may also promote faster healing by increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation.

However, if you have a low pain threshold or are looking for relief of tense muscles, Swedish massage is gentler and may be a better option.

The Benefits of Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage offers both physical and psychological benefits. Unlike other massage techniques that focus on relaxation, deep tissue massage helps to treat muscle pain and improve stiffness. But it can still help you unwind mentally, too.

A study found that deep tissue massage helped to reduce pain in people with a chronic low back. The authors likened its effects to those of non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory medications.

People have also reported that deep tissue massage helps with:

  • Sports injuries
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • High blood pressure
  • Sciatica
  • Tennis elbow
